Under the sun of Rome, the 55th Edition of Trofeo Sette Colli/International Swimming Competition opens. The World stars couldn’t find an atmosphere better than one found at Stadio del Nuoto to measure their physical conditions and ambitions one month before the European Championships in Glasgow 2018. The competitions occur until Sunday 1st July in the “most beautiful swimming pool in the world”, using the words said by Michael Phelps and Federica Pellegrini.
The Italian swimmers qualified for the Final A and B are 21 and 37, respectively, but the first session photo is of Federico Burdisso (Tiro a Volo Nuoto) fixing the Italian juniores record in 100m-butterfly with 52"23 (24"50 at 50m). He reaches the best time in the heats obtaining the course 4 in Final, ahead the South-African Chad Le Clos (champion in 200m-butterfly) who obtains the second general time with 52"45. The previous Italian juniores record is obtained by Tommaso Romani with 52"35 in Doha 2009 in gum swimsuit. The previous personal time obtained by Burdisso – who moved to London and when he is in Rome he trains with Simone Palombi – in the Absolute Championships in Riccione on the last 14th April with 52"58. “My feelings in the water are good and the time is excellent - he said out of the water – it is going very well”. Reaching this time, the goldenboy ranks fourth among the Italian performances all time.
Among the International stars the Brazilian Bruno Fratus shines – silver medalist in 50m-freestyle at the World Championships in Budapest 2017 – with 21"79 very close to the event record in 50m-freestyle (21"64). The Swedish Sarah Sjostrom – Olympic champion in 100m-butterfly in London 2016 – is very close to the Sette Colli records in two races: 50m-butterfly with 25"33 (CR 25"23) and 50m-freestyle with 24"33 (CR 24"13). Finals are live broadcasted at 07:00pm on Rai Sport +HD with Tommaso Macarozzi and the technical report by Luca Sacchi. The pre-show is programmed at 05:30pm.
